Defending series champ Kyle Martin rebounded from his bike breakage DNF at round seven to lead most of the way en route to the win in Indiana's dust, putting him a mere four points out of first.
Newcomer Ryan Lane proved to be more than competitive and finished second, not far off the winner's pace.
The winner of rounds two and seven, John Pitts had to settle for third in Indiana, but he found himself just one point out of the series points lead.
After hitting a tree and finishing back in fourth, Bryan Hulsey found his series points lead down to a single point.

From left: third-place Jordan Ashburn, winner Paul Whibley and runner-up Thad Duvall enjoy the glory of the podium.
Jordan Ashburn (15) earned another $200 K&N Filters Holeshot Award after bumping bars with Paul Whibley (1). The Kawasaki racer stayed near the front to claim third at the finish, his best result--and second podium--since his third at round one (coincidentally also in Indiana).
Paul Whibley did what he seems to do best--get out front early and control the race--en route to winning his fifth in a row. Combined with a rare off day by Scott Watkins, the two-time and defending series champ now has the points race also under control with only two rounds left.
Thad Duvall demonstrated sheer determination in coming from a poor start through the walls of dust all over the course to eventually claim second.
Jimmy Jarrett rebounded from his crash at round seven to claim fourth, his best finish since his second place at round four.
Round eight was the first time this season that Scott Watkins missed the podium. He was at a loss to explain the reason for his sixth-place finish. Though he's still second in points, he's now 22 points behind Whibley.

Kyle Martin got the $100 K&N Filters Holeshot Award and battled for the lead, but he eventually DNFed after breaking a heim joint. He's followed here by Bryan Hulsey, John Pitts and Dan Schaefer.
John Pitts got his first win since round two, taking sole possession of second in points behind Hulsey.
Bryan Hulsey dueled for the lead for a while but had to make an unexpected pit stop. After that, he was too far back to mount another challenge so he settled for runner-up.

Brett Zofchak got the jump into the first turn on his 250 XC, but when he swung wide out of the turn, Scott Watkins (2, partially obscured behind Zofchak) held it tight inside and they hit the designated holeshot line side by side. Thus, they split the $200 K&N Filters Holeshot Award.

It didn't take long for Paul Whibley to move into the lead, but he was never able to relax. Still, he did what he needed to in order to win his fourth in a row and move another five points away from runner-up (in points and on the day) Scott Watkins.
Though he finished second behind Whibley for the third round in a row, Scott Watkins was closer than he's been so far and but for one quick spill the gap between them would've been much less than 20 seconds. In all seven rounds, Watkins has been either second or third.
Thad Duvall's day started horribly--he was dead-last off the line--but he played it cool and methodically worked his way toward the front, landing on the podium (in third place) for the first time since his win at round three.

Promoter Bill Gusse interviews third-place Nick Fahringer while winner Paul Whibley (center) and runner-up Scott Watkins (right) wait their turns.
About the only time Whibley found himself behind was through the first turn when he got sideways, allowing Factory Performance KX450F-mounted Cooper Bailey to steal the $200 K&N Filters Holeshot Award.
Scott Watkins laps Bryan Johnson en route to second overall, though he lost his series points lead and now trails race winner Paul Whibley by two points, unofficially. Johnson earned second in 30-39 A.
Nick Fahringer seems to be getting faster as the season flies by. After battling with Jordan Ashburn in the first hour, he took control of third place in the final hour for third place--his second podium in a row.
While Paul Whibley (1) got into the first turn in good shape, he lost ground getting sideways, giving Cooper Bailey (19) the $200 K&N Filters Holeshot Award. But that was the last time "Whibs" put a wheel wrong as he quickly moved into the lead and checked out for his third straight victory. Bailey would end up sixth Pro and seventh overall.

Just five weeks after a crash in practice that required removal of his spleen, Michael Williams was cleared on Wednesday by his doctor to race. Not satisfied to merely show up, he returned where he left off, destroying Lite A for his fifth win of the series, putting him eighth overall.

Pre-Story
SPRING CREEK GP -- MILLVILLE MINNESOTA -- THE FAMOUS OUTDOOR NATIONAL MOTOCROSS FACILITY!!!
5 Down – 5 To Go!
With the return of Whibley the previous 2 rounds, he is back in contention of the Series Championship. However it is Scott Watkins amazing consistency that has kept him in the points lead for the past 4 rounds. Watkins has taken to the OMA style of tracks and is making himself known in the offroad world through this series. Thad Duvall’s mechanical issues the last round in Michigan and in Tennessee has hampered his points totals, but the next few rounds terrains could play out to Thad’s advantage. But Whibs and Watkins are very familar with the remaining rounds. Let the racing begin! Jarrett’s having another bad luck year unfortunately. The latest on Jarrett… He is still recovering from a tragic accident, while training on his bicycle he was struck by a truck in a Hit and Run accident. It takes a real cold hearted… ah… fool… to hit someone on the road and split! Absolutely sickening! We are grateful Jarrett was not injured to any serious extent and will recover to full capacity soon. He will be returning to the starting line this weekend, however just enough to keep in the points for the series.
Well onto the ATV’s, we have THREE! And we have THREE Great Guys who appreciate racing. What can we say, Kyle, Brian, and John are fun loving racing guys and we enjoy seeing the battle each event. It’s going to be interesting which one of these three good friends will take the Championsihp! Good luck this weekend guys and have lots of fun!

After not riding or training for three weeks to let his broken toe heal more, Nick Fahringer was raring to go and ended up with the first holeshot of his life--earning the $200 K&N Filters Holeshot Award--and led the first lap before realizing that he was in no shape to maintain that pace. He settled for third.
Scott Watkins ran his record of podium finishes this season to five in a row with his runner-up finish, though his series points lead is now just three with Whibley the new owner of second place, 117-114, unofficially.
Paul Whibley took his second series win of the year and in a row, moving up in points to second as the series hit the halfway point.
Financial constraints have kept Aaron Wegner close to his Michigan base and off the OMA circuit, but he's as fast as ever. Coming from the Open A line, the privateer ended up winning the class and turning in the fourth fastest time overall.
Photo is of WMA star Sarah Whitmore. She won the Women's class then rode Lite A to keep her brother company. He ended up possibly breaking his ankle. |
He's a BIG boy; probably goes 250, 260. His bike was broken so he borrowed their dad's CR125. After he went out, she dropped out too. Was pretty tired and no incentive. |

Get Well Wishes to Colt Converse, Our thoughts are with you! UPDATE 6/25.... Colt is doing better each day! And we look forward to see him racing again someday soon!
Colt, up and coming talented racer, suffered a compound fracture in his lower leg, breaking both bones. He was airlifted to Trinity East, then transported to Trinity West in Davenport for surgery. Word has it by friends at the scene that "Colt is a really tough kid; a tough dirt bike rider. . He winced while biting a towel in his mouth, but never cried, or screamed, or nothin'" said Jimmy Greenley.
If you would like to send out a card to Colt with your well wishes...

IT’S ROUND 4 OF THE OMA’S AND THE FMF RACING WHISKEY RUN IN CLAY CITY, KENTUCKY!!!!

FMF RACING SUPPORT TRUCKS TO BE PRESENT AT THIS ROUND FOR RIDER SUPPORT!!!!!!
MAKE SURE YOU GOT YOUR MAXXIS TIRES & CONTINGENCY INFORMATION UPDATED!! CASH !! PEOPLE... CASH !!!

If you don’t know, you can say you know now. Thad Duvall is quite the entertainer on and off the track. With his newly launched Facebook video remakes of hip hop, 80’s rock, and more, He has been drawing a crowd for entertainment. But it his newly found OMA technical track talent we will focus on here. Last year we met Thad for the first time in Ohio, quiet, kind, reserved kid took to the OMA event and landed up on the podium. He came onto the OMA scene this year, still quiet, kind, reserved, but everyone could see once he mounts his AmPro FMF Yamaha an aggressive, confident, unreserved racer appeared, which gave him an OMA win opening round. Two weekends ago at round 3 he returned to Ohio to completely dominate the event. Thad would make it look easy in the dust, heat, and talented lineup.
However it’s JG Offroad Geico Kawasaki’s Scotty Watkins who is leading in the points with his consistent podium finishes who is leading the OMA points. Scotty has proven his consistent finishes, his speed has stepped up from last year, but the top podium position still eludes him. After former teammate, Paul Whibley dominated the OMA top podium position the previous year from anyone standing in.
The former Champions…
Jarrett… JJ just missed the podium last round with a fourth place in Ohio after a well deserved win in some narly mud –n- rut terrain. Jimmy has always been known as a great mud racer. Whether he enjoys it or not is unknown, but he had to enjoy the mud race in Tennessee, no matter What the track conditions were. This isn’t flattrack… there is no canceling races, and JJ is most likely appreciative of that. In Ohio, JJ would run into, “Literally”, amateur rider, Gary Steed, on the top of a hill and run into some minor mechanical issues that interfere with his race. Little things like this happens in racing and can prevent someone from running at 100% ability.
Whibley has yet to take the top podium position this year after owning it last year. Coming close with a second place finish in Ohio, Whibley is yet struggling with his points, but it’s still early into the Series. Whibley looked strong last round, and we anticipate an even stronger Whibs this weekend. Whibley will have tee shirts available at the event, so swing by and grab a tee from Katherine!
Pro Rookie, Jordan Ashburn, once again took the K&N Filters $200 Holeshot award at round 1 and 3 on his Team Green Monster Energy Kawasaki. Another racer running consistent top 5 races, in which his consistency has notched him into the fourth place points position. Not bad for the Pro Rookie, maybe Rookie is not the word to tag him with?
All the Pro’s points are very tight, the entire way down, from the top 5 on down. Adam Bonneur, Kenneth Gilbert, Jeremy Smith, and Shane Klimek are all running close in points. Nick Fahringer and Cooper Bailey having used their throw aways the opening round, leaves them low points at this time, but that all changes the last round with the mandatory 1 throw away.
Now the ATV’s are also running a tight race, if you throw out the 1 mandatory throw away for KTM’s Josh Beavers. Although it looks as if he has a great points lead, he must throw away 1 round, in which keeps the points close for him to the other top 4, 2009 Champion, Kyle Martin, and former OMA Champ, Bryan Hulsey and John Pitts. Josh’s first year running the OMA Series and he’s taken KTM to leading the OMA points. But it’s Pitts, who has been the only one to have earned a win out of the top 5, at round 2’s muddy run. Last round it was Kyle Martin who would take the $100 K&N Holeshot award, each round has had a different winner for the K&N holeshot money!
Many atv racer’s may prefer a nonstop, wide open, fast atv course, but these atv racers are more about maneuvering their machines amongst a track that takes upper body and brain power and not just thumb power, gotta love and appreciate an atv racer who has talent to maneuver an atv machine through timber sections, off cambers, and technical sections, and more, than just down a wide open logging road.
Bottom line, it’s anyone’s year yet. This weekend could be the round that could launch a racer up or down in the points. Which makes for good racing!
A friendly reminder to all who plan on attending any OMA's in the future, we are running a "Zero Tolerance" to course cutting. So if you enjoy cutting courses, it would best you stay home to prevent any embarrassing situations for yourself, like your name posted on the front page with DQC (Disqualified for Cutting). All lap times are checked when you go through the MotoTally scoring system. You create a "funky" lap time... we will Not ask questions or what happened out there. DQC! Stay on course! Also be sure to register in your "appropriate" class bracket! Zero Tolerance with this issue also. Consider yourself informed!
Once again we would like to announce MotoTally is the official scoring system for the OMA's, supported by MotoTally creator, Brian Jahelka, who will be on site. The transponder system worked flawless at the last round and we are confident it will once again be a flawless scoring weekend. Transponders are the credit card form and $10 at registration. Please bring your helmets to registration so the transponder can be tested with the helmet to be sure there is no reading interference. |

Race Tech is excited to announce sponsorship of the 2010 OMA Winter and National Series.
Since the addition of ATV and UTV products, Race Tech has become aware of the successful branding power the OMA has with their members and race support efforts. Race Tech will offer OMA members a special discount and will provide on-site suspension services at many rounds. “We have been researching for an event marketing and racing series that would showcase all of our custom suspension product lines. The OMA brings an abundance of regional marketing and a specific audience.” Race Tech has many similar products available for off-road motorcycles and ATV/quads or the UTV vehicles. The Race Tech G3-S Custom Shocks for ATVs and UTVs has received numerous positive media reviews and racer approval. |

Congratulations to Thad Duvall -- Am Pro FMF Yamaha / MSR / Kenda -- on his 2nd OMA Nationals Win! Thad took the lead early on and eased onto the checkers. Putting him 2 points down from the lead in the points. Former 2 time OMA Champion, and Duvall teammate Paul Whibley -- Am Pro FMF Yamaha / MSR / Kenda -- locks the 2nd place podium spot, followed by consistant podium placer and Series points leader, Scott Watkins --JG Offroad Geico / Moose Racing / Pirelli / FMF.

Jordan Ashburn takes the $200 K & N Filters Holeshot Award for the 2nd time this year. Scott Watkins (2) got into the first corner a little hot, letting Jordan Ashburn (15) slip underneath to steal the $200 K&N Filters Holeshot Award, but it was Watkins who finished better, placing third with Ashburn fifth and Cooper Bailey (19) ninth. This was about as far behind as Thad Duvall (989) ran all day en route to his convincing victory.

Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals... Round 2 Rekluse HangMan XC
Rekluse to be present for Trackside support !!!
Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals Ready to Hang...
It was Smack Down USA at the opening round of the Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals. After complete domination in the series the previous year, after proving to the World you can run two off-road series and win both Championships, and one Series take 10 for 10, a feat never accomplished in this country, until Paul Whibley (Am Pro FMF Yamaha /MSR / Kenda /FMF / SIDI / Rekluse / Motion Pro) would find him a challenge… Finally. Challenge is good. Fellow Teammate, Thad Duvall took the lead at the opening round just over the half point and never looked back. Taking Am-Pro Yamaha to the podium and defeating Whibley’s podium reign.
As with the bikes, the ATV event was dominated the previous year by fellow Missourians Kyle Martin, 2009 OMA Champion and Bryan Hulsey, 2008 OMA Champion. Then it was “Hello Taylor Kiser!” Yet another podium win for Yamaha. Kiser along with Duvall would pull a Yamaha Smack Down USA at the OMA opener round.
We at OMA must confess, the twist of fate for the dominating runners was a welcome surprise. No one ever wants to see a “Good Guy” get defeated, but when it’s by another “Good Guy” how can you go wrong?
The next round will be held at Hanging Limb, TN May 1-2… Rekluse “HangMan XC”Landowner Daryl Hoover has recently purchased surrounding ground for more parking and track length. Rekluse representative, Patrick Koether, will be present for track support and will also be holding their newly launched “Idaho Bake Potato” dinner Saturday evening at the track. Also the return of John Wolven a.k.a. Johnny O’Hannah will be announcing the weekend event. With his new found love for jabbering into the mic, Johnny O has found his passion… offroad racing. Though he has yet to conquer the technique for riding in the woods without smashing pipes and dealing with Bill “Lead Dog” Gusse… we feel he fits right in here, with the rift raft. It's all about having fun!
OMA is bringing the transponder system MotoTally back! Brian Jahelka, MotoTally creator, will be present at the event.
MOTOTALLY TRANSPONDERS $10 PER RIDER

Rules & Regulations / Contingency Program
Maxxis Presents a Contingency Program in return for your loyalty! Thank You Maxxis!!!!
Maxxis, maker of the best tires on the market for off-road racing, is offering lucrative cash contingencies totaling more than one million dollars to all ATV a nd motorcycle racers in eight major U.S. race series. You read it correctly - CASH! Not just discounts, coupons or free products, but cold, hard cash. And these cash awards are up for grabs in nearly all classes. How could the deal be any sweeter? Well, payouts are available for first through fifth place in most classes!
“Historically, Maxxis has offered cash for certain classes and free tires for the rest. This year, we’ve gone to an all-cash contingency since racers are having a harder time than ever coming up with the money for things like gas, hotels and all other race expenses. And of course, the extra cash will help when they need to replace their well-used Maxxis tires,” said Maxxis’ senior sales representative Harry Tripp.
Payouts range from $25 minimum all the way up to $1,500 for the pro class in certain series. Riders can earn cash in the following series: AMA Arenacross; AMA ATV Motocross Championship; AMA Pro Motocross Championship; GNCC, Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championships; Maxxis New England ATV MX; OMA Nationals; and WORCS.
Riders must run Maxxis tires on all four wheels for ATV and on the front and rear for motorcycle, and must display the specified number of Maxxis decals on their vehicles. Full instructions are on the contingency application forms. To view or download forms, please visit http://www.maxxis.com/MotorcycleATV/Contingency-Programs.aspx.
